The Mamava App + Accessing the Pod

Mamava pods are always free to use. Depending on the pod, there are several ways to get inside—including the Mamava app, a keypad and access code, or a physical key. (Note: It is up to the facility that owns the pod to determine any access limitations (e.g. for employees only).

Access with the Mamava App

Mamava pods equipped with Smart Access technology can be unlocked with the Mamava app. Just make sure Bluetooth is turned on.

Other Ways to Access

Keypad + access code: Smart Access pods can also be unlocked using a four-digit access code. If you're having trouble accessing the pod with the app, check the app for a one-time code.

Physical key: Mamava pods have physical keys as a backup access method. If you're unable to access the pod using the app or keypad, contact the facility where the pod is located—they may be able to open it for you and help resolve the issue.

Tech-free pods: Tech-free Mamava pods do not require the app or a keypad. Knock before entering and secure the interior lock once inside.

Troubleshooting the App

Having trouble finding or unlocking a pod? Make sure Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or cellular data, and Location Services are enabled, and that Low Power Mode is off. Stay close to the pod and try restarting the app if needed.

Vacancy Alerts + Occupancy

Mamava pods are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved. The Mamava app shows whether a pod is available or occupied. You can also sign up for a vacancy alert in the app to be notified when an occupied pod becomes available.

Inside the Pod + Amenities

Mamava pods are designed specifically for breastfeeding and pumping, with features to help make your session comfortable and private. Depending on the pod model, there may be additional space for companions, a stroller, or luggage.

Changing Stations + Sinks

Mamava pods do not include changing stations or sinks. The interior is designed as a clean, food-grade space for breastfeeding and pumping, so please do not change diapers or dispose of dirty diapers inside the pod.

Trash Cans

Mamava pods follow a carry-in, carry-out policy and do not have trash cans inside. Facilities are encouraged to provide a trash can nearby.

Comfort + Amenities

Depending on the pod model, the Mamava app may offer adjustable lighting.

Virtual Lactation Consulting with SimpliFed

Need additional support? We’ve partnered with SimpliFed to provide virtual, judgment-free breastfeeding and baby-feeding support through the Mamava app—from pregnancy through weaning. Consultations are provided by International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs).

What to Expect

Your provider will listen to your goals, answer questions, offer personalized guidance, and help troubleshoot feeding challenges. When helpful, they may also observe feeding, latch, or positioning. Consultations are fully virtual, with video optional. Partners and other support people are welcome to join. Depending on provider availability, you may also be able to continue care with the same provider.

Scheduling + Access

Schedule and manage appointments through the Mamava app. Consultations can be accessed from a smartphone, tablet, or computer with an internet connection. If you experience technical issues, try reconnecting to the internet or switching to audio-only. You can also reschedule your appointment if needed.

Insurance + Payment

SimpliFed works with many health insurance plans and can help determine whether your plan provides coverage. If insurance isn’t an option, self-pay and health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account (FSA) payment options are also available.
